(NewsReady.com) – For months, American cities have had to deal with rioters destroying property. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called on Democratic leaders to accept help from the federal government to contain the problem. Now, Attorney General William Barr is reportedly suggesting the criminals causing the violence should face severe charges.
According to a September 16 report by The Wall Street Journal, Barr allegedly held a conference call with the DOJ’s prosecutors where he said rioters could potentially be charged with sedition. That means the agitators would be accused of trying to overthrow the government.

FindLaw, an independent judicial website, says that people convicted of sedition face up to 20 years in prison.
Barr also reportedly warned the prosecutors the riots could get worse as the election nears. He encouraged them to aggressively prosecute people arrested during the unrest. Restoring law and order to the country is one of the tenets of President Trump’s administration and it looks like that’s what the DOJ wants to do.
