(NewsReady.com) – Judge Amy Coney Barrett weathered the second day of her Supreme Court confirmation hearings on Tuesday, October 13. She withstood hours of harsh questioning from Democratic lawmakers while refusing to fall into their traps.
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee repeatedly asked Barrett about her opinions on Roe v. Wade, Obamacare, and election cases. The judge said she would follow the law when ruling on those issues.
Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) asked Judge Barrett about her previous writings on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). She explained that she doesn’t have hostility toward the law. In fact, Barrett went on to say that she’s not “on a mission to destroy the ACA.”
Judge Barrett also told the senators she doesn’t think SCOTUS justices can just “walk in like a royal queen” and impose their beliefs. Every case has to be decided individually based on the Constitution’s language. Her honor also refused to answer questions about abortion because it wouldn’t be appropriate.
The third day of questioning takes place on Wednesday.
