Biden Says He Would Consider Withdrawing If A “Medical Condition” Surfaced

(NewsReady.com) – President Joe Biden continues to face opposition to his candidacy within his party. Reports recently indicated he might consider dropping out of the race. Now, the president has said he would do it if he was suffering from a medical issue.

On July 17, an interview was released with President Joe Biden and BET News host Ed Gordon. Gordon asked him if there was anything that would make him reconsider staying in the presidential race. He responded, saying he’d drop out if “some medical condition” emerged and doctors told him he had a problem.

That’s a change from what the president told ABC News. He said that only the “Lord almighty” could convince him to drop out of the presidential race. Then he changed his mind a few days later and said he would leave the race if his aides showed him proof he’d absolutely lose.

Biden told Gordon that he was originally going to move on after his first term. He said he was going to “pass it on to somebody else” but didn’t because he thought his experience and “wisdom” would help to heal America’s worsening divisions.

The president said he “demonstrated” he knew “how to get things done for the country” even though everyone said he wouldn’t be able to get things done. Biden said there is “more to do” and he doesn’t want to “walk away from that.”

Biden had a physical in February. The White House physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, said that he’s a “healthy, active, robust, 81-year-old male” who is fit to do the jobs required of him as president.

Reports have surfaced indicating that high-ranking Democrats, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and current Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), want Biden to drop out of the race. They’re allegedly convinced he’s going to lose and drag the congressional races down with him.
