(NewsReady.com) – Billy Joel is arguably one of the most popular artists of his generation. The Long Island native was nicknamed “Piano Man” after releasing a hit song in the 1970s with the same name. He’s now releasing his first song in almost two decades.
On January 22, Joel’s Columbia Records announced he would be releasing a song titled “Turn The Lights Back On” next month, on February 1. The song is going to be released on limited-edition 7-inch vinyl and also on streaming services. Fans can pre-order it on vinyl, Amazon, and iTunes by clicking one of the prompts on the site.
According to the announcement, Joel alluded to the song when he joined TikTok. He shared a video of an event that took place in December, and in the video, he tells his audience that he has good and bad news for them. The bad news was that he didn’t have a new song to play them, but the good news is that they wouldn’t have to sit through. However, he told them he was working on a new song for them.
In the new song, the six-time Grammy winner asks, “Did I wait too long / to turn the lights back on?” The song promises to have the musician’s “signature sound” and will begin “ushering in the next chapter” of his career.
