(NewsReady.com) – John Bolton, the former national security adviser, recently announced his memoir will hit bookstores in March. In it, Bolton talks about Trump’s phone call with Ukraine and his perception of it. As a result, Democrats have been scrambling double-time to try and convince enough Senate Republicans to allow witness testimony.
Ever since this news broke it’s dominated the impeachment narrative, even when it comes to Trump’s legal defense team. On Tuesday, the team started its final arguments which were largely overshadowed by Bolton. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) seemed to be more interested in the Bolton situation, saying, “I think Bolton probably has something to offer us. We’ll figure out how we’re going to learn more.”
Even Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC), a staunch Trump ally, stated that he’d support some sort of plan that would make Bolton’s manuscript available to senators for review. Graham also said that he’d support a subpoena to obtain the manuscript.
Senators will likely vote on whether or not to hear witnesses later this week.
