Brazen Car Heist Happens in Broad Daylight

(NewsReady.com) – Some people save money for years until they can afford their dream car. Others just go out and steal one. Police are now looking for suspects who were part of the second group after luxury cars were stolen.

On July 22, Toronto, Canada, police responded to a call about a car theft at 3:40 p.m. local time. According to reports, three male suspects entered a car dealership in broad daylight in the downtown area and drove off with three luxury vehicles. The stolen cars were a 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, 2021 Rolls-Royce Dawn, and a 2022 Bentley Bentayga. They were worth a combined $750,000 USD.

Law enforcement hasn’t explained how exactly the suspects were able to steal the three cars. However, car thefts are up in the Canadian city by more than 38% compared to 2022.

Canada isn’t the only place that has experienced such brazen car thefts. In June, three male suspects went to a dealership in Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood after 3:30 a.m. and stole three vehicles. They returned to the scene of the crime after 5 a.m. and took three more cars.

In January, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office (the county where Chicago is located) released video footage of a gang of at least 10 masked suspects breaking into a dealership in the middle of the night and making off with six luxury cars in about 10 minutes. Those vehicles included a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450, 2014 Audi S7, 2019 Mercedes-Benz E300, two 2017 Audi Q7s, and a 2014 Maserati Ghibli.

The month before that theft, thieves broke into another Chicago dealership and stole two vehicles. Fortunately, the cars were later recovered.

In early July, down south in Bradenton, Florida, thieves stole 15 cars from an auto-body shop. Two of the stolen vehicles were later involved in a fiery crash in a residential neighborhood, and one hit a home. Police later arrested four teenagers in connection with the thefts.
