(NewsReady.com) – Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg had an awkward moment at a Fox News town hall event Sunday night after an audience member challenged him on the position of pro-life members of the party. Kristen Day, a 50-year-old Democrat from Virginia, asked Buttigieg if he wanted the support of pro-life Democrats — a group Day said numbers about 21 million people. If so, she wanted to know whether or not he’d support more moderate language on the issue.
Buttigieg, put on the spot, said he did hope for their support but refused to commit to including pro-life opinions on the Democrat platform. Day, when offered a chance to respond, said she wasn’t satisfied with the response because Buttigieg had failed to answer the second part of her question.
Day said, “The Democratic platform contains language that basically says, ‘we don’t belong, we have no part in the party because it says abortion should be legal up to nine months, the government should pay for it.’”
