Criticism Over Trump's Border Wall Funding

(NewsReady.com) – Defense Secretary Mark Esper is under fire from both sides of the aisle when it comes to shifting around funding to support the border wall’s construction.

President Trump asked the Pentagon to reallocate funding over the last few months and now Esper has gone through with some of the president’s proposals:

Currently, the Pentagon has transferred $3.8 billion to the Defense Department’s counternarcotics account, which is being used by the Trump administration to pay for the wall. The fund reallocation is mostly coming from weapons systems.

Esper defended the change in funding by saying that Trump has determined that the situation at the US-Mexico border is a national emergency. By reallocating funding, the wall can be constructed faster in order to further secure our country.
