Currently, the Pentagon has transferred $3.8 billion to the Defense Department’s counternarcotics account, which is being used by the Trump administration to pay for the wall. The fund reallocation is mostly coming from weapons systems.
Esper defended the change in funding by saying that Trump has determined that the situation at the US-Mexico border is a national emergency. By reallocating funding, the wall can be constructed faster in order to further secure our country.
