According to WFAA, court documents state the deceased man screamed at employees who tried to stop him from stealing. He hit one of the female workers multiple times with his fists. That’s when the other employee sprayed him with mace. When Jackson walked into the store, he was greeted by a chaotic scene.
Jackson told employees to move and shot the customer. Police said the evidence shows that the thief was running toward the door of the store when Jackson fired at him. The workers reportedly told police they were not near Betts when the shot was fired.
