Faith in Disney’s Magic Is Slipping Away
(NewsReady.com) – Every 10 years, the United Kingdom conducts its census, just like the US. One of the questions people are asked about is their religion. The new results showed some surprising results for Disney. Yes, that’s right, Disney.
To say “Star Wars” has a large fan base would be the understatement of the year. So many people love the films that between 2001 and 2011, hundreds of thousands of people in the UK declared they belonged to the Jedi Knight religion. The Financial Post reported the most recent data from the Office for National Statistics showed the “religion” no longer had the same cult following it did in the past.
According to the report, so many people declared they belonged to the Jedi Knight religion in the census that the government actually added it as an option. In 2011, 176,000 people in England and Wales declared their devotion to Yoda and his pals. Sadly, in 2021, that number had dwindled to 1,600, and they were put into the “no religion” type.

In the past, residents have declared “heavy metal” as their religion, too. The Jedi Knights wasn’t the only religion to find itself bleeding members. For the first time in history, the number of people claiming to be devoted Christians fell below 50% to 46.2%.
