(NewsReady.com) – Many people first met Dr. Mehmet Oz on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where he became what Oprah referred to as ‘America’s doctor.’ Now, the cardiac surgeon is running for a seat in the US Senate representing Pennsylvania as a Republican. He believes American “values are under attack” and thinks he can do a better job than the “arrogant, closed-minded people in charge” of the country. The New Jersey native went on to say his political philosophy hinges on a limited government so citizens can retain their liberty and freedom.
I want to congratulate my North Jersey constituent Dr. Oz on his run for US Senate in Pennsylvania. I’m sure this fully genuine candidacy will capture the hearts of Pennsylvanians. https://t.co/poMegBfBfC

Dr. Oz says it’s essential to achieve complete domestic energy independence so the United States doesn’t have to rely on other nations. He also revealed how much he believes in capitalism and the power of healthy competition.
While talking with Fox News host Sean Hannity on November 30, Oz talked about his views on the healthcare system, which is dear to his heart. The doctor wants to “protect against pre-existing conditions” and make sure that healthcare is both affordable and accessible for everyone.
He appears to have strong Republican values that could help support the party. The only question is: Is his celebrity status enough to secure him the win?
