(NewsReady.com) – The stakes are high for the 2020 election, and Democrats are pulling all the stops to try and win. In what looks like a violation of election spending rules, a “media group” owned by a Liberal nonprofit has spent millions on targeted election ads disguised as news articles.
Courier Newsroom, which operates 7 websites in battleground states, has spent more than $2.1 million on “news” stuffed with Democrat talking points and opinions. The sites are operating in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin, with unique branding in each state to make them look independent. However, they’re all controlled by Courier Newsroom, which in turn is owned by pro-Democrat 501(c) ACRONYM.

A review of Courier’s spending found that at least 74% of it has been targeted in support of 14 Democrats in closely-contested House races. By early September, it had run 485 ads in those districts – and some of the candidates they’re supporting are sharing the articles as if they’re genuine news.
Courier was the subject of a Federal Electoral Commission (FEC) complaint last month after an internal memo emerged. It showed ACRONYM founder Tara McGowan discussing how Courier should be used to “drive strategic narratives” and influence voters’ support of candidates.
