FBI Arrests Four Police Officers Related to the Death of Breonna Taylor

FBI Makes Sudden Arrests – Multiple Officers!

(NewsReady.com) – Four Kentucky cops are facing federal charges over the death of Breonna Taylor in 2020, despite already being cleared by a state investigation. Her shooting sparked widespread protests at the time, and it’s been a major issue for left-wing activists calling to defund the police. Are these new charges really about justice, or are politics involved?

On August 4, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged four Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers involved in the raid that led to Taylor’s death. One of them, former Detective Brett Hankison, was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment for firing blindly into Taylor’s apartment; bullets from his gun penetrated and entered two neighboring apartments, including the one upstairs from Taylor’s. However, he was acquitted on March 3 this year.

The federal charges announced by Garland have a different focus. Three men, LMPD Sergeant Kyle Meany, Detective Kelly Goodlett, and former officer Joshua Jaynes, face charges of falsifying the affidavit used to obtain a search warrant for Taylor’s apartment. They and Hankison are also charged with violating Taylor’s Fourth Amendment rights, which protect against “unreasonable searches and seizures.” Hankison faces additional charges of using “unconstitutionally excessive force.” If convicted, the four could face between five years and life in prison.
