Fox News Owner Engaged at 92

(NewsReady.com) – Rupert Murdoch is currently dealing with quite a bit of trouble in his media empire. It’s being sued for billions of dollars over Fox News’ election coverage. Rival media was able to get ahold of private correspondence between some of his employees as a result of the suit. But while that is unfolding in his professional life, the billionaire has found love again in his personal life.

On Friday, March 17, Murdoch asked his girlfriend, 66-year-old Ann Lesley Smith, to marry him. He popped the question in New York City and told the New York Post he chose St. Patrick’s Day because he’s “one-fourth Irish.” The 92-year-old told the newspaper, which he owns, that he was “very nervous” and he “dreaded falling in love,” but he knew the former San Francisco police chaplain would be his last love.

Murdoch’s wedding will be his fifth marriage. His last was to former supermodel Jerry Hall in 2016. They divorced in August 2022. A month later, in September, the tycoon met Smith at an event at his vineyard in California.

The marriage won’t be the first for Smith, either. Her first marriage was to John B. Huntington, an heir to the Huntington railroad fortune. After that marriage ended in divorce, she eventually married country singer Chester Smith until he passed away in 2008.

Smith told the Post that she speaks “Rupert’s language,” and they “share the same beliefs.” Murdoch explained that when they met, he knew that she used to own a vineyard and knew the wine business. So, two weeks after the encounter, he gave her a call.

Murdoch gave his bride-to-be an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire that chose himself. They will be married in the late summer, which leaves little time to find the perfect dress. However, according to the report, both Smith’s friends and a personal shopper are hitting the shops to find it.
