(NewsReady.com) – For years, Republicans have complained about unfair censorship on social media platforms. And over the last year, it’s been particularly bad as sites have even attacked President Donald Trump. Now, a group of GOP lawmakers are trying to put an end to the companies’ reign of terror.
Republican Senators Marsha Blackburn (TN), Lindsey Graham (SC) and Roger Wicker (MS) introduced the “Online Freedom and Viewpoint Diversity Act.” The bill will clarify the intent of Section 230 of the Communications and Decency Act, which provides liability protection to Big Tech companies. The legislation changes what content can be censored and leaves social media companies who unfairly censor content vulnerable to lawsuits.

If passed, the law will go a long way toward stopping Big Tech from censoring American citizens based on their political beliefs. If the companies fail to follow the law, they could lose their liability protections and be sued by angry Americans.
