Many wondered which DNC candidate the previous supporters of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) would turn to after she recently exited the race. For months, some political commentators speculated that her followers would turn to Joe Biden in spite of some heated exchanges between the two. It seems that prediction is becoming reality.
A group of African-American women activists in South Carolina, who backed Harris, have officially endorsed Biden. The group, known as “The Reckoning Crew” rallied grassroots support for Biden. South Carolina is the first Southern state to enter the primaries.
If Biden becomes the DNC nominee and obtains a robust amount of support in the state, he’d have a better shot at potentially beating Trump in 2020. In fact, a recent poll puts Biden at 29% support in South Carolina compared to other Democrats. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) trails just behind at 26%.
Although Kamala supporters had their hearts set on her winning the nomination, some of them believe that Biden is the best alternative.
