(NewsReady.com) – On Thursday, October 28, President Joe Biden visited Capitol Hill to ask lawmakers to support the infrastructure bill. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) then tried to strongarm Progressives. As one Fox News pointed out, she failed miserably.
House Progressives have been holding up the bipartisan infrastructure bill for months, saying they’ll only pass it if the reconciliation bill passes with it. According to reports, Pelosi added the bill to the calendar for a vote and warned her caucus against embarrassing Biden while he was at the G20 Summit. Hours later, the vote was postponed after the far-left refused to take a knee.
Fox host Laura Ingraham told her viewers that “the Squad,” a group of progressive Representatives, overpowered Pelosi.
Despite Pelosi’s attempts to bring her party together, she hasn’t been able to rally them to vote for Biden’s agenda. The Squad is angry about the Senate slimming down the $3.5-trillion reconciliation bill in order to appease moderate Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Joe Manchin (D-WV). Ingraham said the massive reconciliation bill Progressives want to pass is still too large at $1.75 trillion. She called it “immoral” to stick the next generation with the bills.
The rifts in the Democratic Party are bad for the Left, but it could be great for Republicans. If Progressives can’t pass the legislation, Americans won’t get stuck footing the bill. It could also create an opportunity for the GOP to pick up even more seats in Congress next year.
