(NewsReady.com) – On Monday, October 12, the American people witnessed the first day of Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Republicans asked her thought-provoking questions intended to allow people to see who she really is. Then, there were the Democrats.
The day started with Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), chairman of the Judiciary Committee, honoring the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Watch his opening statement below:
Democrats made it clear right from the jump they planned to attack Judge Barrett. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said the caucus was going to focus on healthcare, and that’s what they did. They scattered posters around, each displaying faces of people Dems claim rely on the ACA.
Democratic senators painted President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett as a threat to the Obamacare healthcare law during a deadly pandemic and denounced the Republican drive to approve her before the Nov. 3 election https://t.co/lbwjZm5JoO pic.twitter.com/Y9oT8iTMvD

The healthcare angle also included President Trump’s COVID diagnosis. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) accused the commander-in-chief of hiding vital details from the American public.
Most surprising is the united front the Democrats displayed. By the end of the day, it became clear this week is going to be extremely contentious. Republicans expect they’ll be able to confirm the judge when the time comes to vote. She’ll be back on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to answer more questions from senators.
