(NewsReady.com) – Rising crime in cities across America has been a concern for more than a year. Meanwhile, far-left politicians have called on city councils to defund law enforcement agencies. Ironically, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is now blaming the police for the increase in crime.
On October 23, Omar attacked law enforcement at a town hall event in Minneapolis. In July, the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension revealed murders in the state were up 58% from 2019, and crime was up 17% overall. The Democrat blamed it on police, claiming the “reduction in policing” in the city and “lawlessness” are occurring because officers have “chosen to not fulfill their oath of office” to keep people safe.

While Omar is complaining about police officers allegedly not doing their jobs, she actively supports defunding their departments. The congresswoman supports a plan to replace the Minneapolis Police Department with a Department of Public Safety. If a November ballot measure passes, the new agency would allegedly take a comprehensive approach to public health, which might not always include calling officers to the scene of disputes. Critics say it’s just a clever way to avoid saying the Left will be defunding the department and funneling the money elsewhere.
Voters will head to the polls on November 2 to decide if they want to defund the police or not.
