(NewsReady.com) – For nearly two decades, Larry Nassar served as the team doctor for USA Gymnastics. During that time, he sexually abused hundreds of young girls and was later convicted of multiple counts of assault. The former doctor was recently injured in prison.
On Sunday, July 9, Larry Nassar was reportedly stabbed 10 times during an altercation with another inmate. According to reports, two of the stab wounds were to his neck, and at least one was in his chest. The convicted sex offender was in stable condition as of Monday.
Sarah Klein, one of Nassar’s victims, told CBS News that her journey toward healing isn’t made any easier just because her abuser was hurt. She explained that her desire isn’t that Nassar dies in his 50s, but instead, that he lives until he is old and dies while behind bars.

Nassar is being held at United States Penitentiary Coleman II in Sumterville, Florida. It’s located approximately an hour northeast of Tampa. The penitentiary is high security, and it’s unclear how the stabbing happened, but the facility is reportedly experiencing staff shortages.
ESPN reached out to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and was told authorities could not confirm the identity of those involved but said the staff that responded to the incident “initiated life-saving measures” right away. Emergency responders transported the inmate to a local hospital.
During the sentencing phase against Nassar, more than 150 women, including Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles, confronted the convicted sex offender. Randall Margraves, the father of three of Nassar’s victims, begged the judge to give him five minutes alone with the man who hurt his children after two of his daughters gave victim impact statements.
Margraves suddenly lunged at Nassar, and it took five people to hold him down. He later apologized for his actions. His daughters’ abuser was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison.
