(NewsReady.com) – As social media sites expand their influence, the questions of censorship are becoming more pertinent. Instagram’s latest announcement is adding fuel to the flames.
On October 6, Instagram announced it would start automatically hiding “potentially offensive” comments on the app. Users will still be able to view them if they click “View Hidden Comments.”

The company said it’s going to expand its “nudge warnings.” That’s when a pop-up appears, letting people know they’re trying to post something that may offend someone. Facebook, which owns Instagram, has similar warnings on its platform.
As censorship becomes more widespread on social media platforms, one has to wonder if the government should allow a few companies to have so much power. Shouldn’t adults have the right to share their opinions without worrying about Big Tech taking their voice away?
