(NewsReady.com) – Some members of the Democratic Party have made it quite clear they want to pack the Supreme Court. Progressives are unhappy with the conservative majority and want to reshape the high court. Recently, the longest-serving sitting justice issued a warning about the state of the federal courts.
On September 16, during a speech at the University of Notre Dame, Justice Clarence Thomas criticized the federal judges for “veering into areas [they] should not have entered into.” He said that’s part of the reason why the nomination process for judges has become so divisive. He went on to say the judicial branch has become “the most dangerous.”
Thomas also seemed to speak out about court-packing, saying politicians shouldn’t “allow others to manipulate our institutions” when they don’t get an outcome they like.

The conservative justice isn’t the only one to speak out recently. Justice Stephen Breyer, the senior liberal on the Supreme Court, warned Democrats about messing with the make-up of the courts, as well. He very pointedly said, “What goes around comes around,” meaning the Left could pack the court now and later Conservatives would do the same. The result would be an erosion of trust in the ability of the justices to do their jobs fairly, which could lead to people refusing to abide by the rulings.
