Kamala Harris Could Vote Herself on Supreme Court

(NewsReady.com) – On Thursday, January 27, Associate Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer announced he’s stepping down from the bench at the end of his term. The justice, who was appointed by former President Bill Clinton, is one of three Liberals currently on the high court. President Joe Biden will now pick his replacement, and there’s a weird scenario that has led to some buzz since Breyer made his announcement.

Sarah Binder, a political science professor at George Washington University, spoke to Fox News Digital about the possibility of Vice President Kamala Harris replacing Breyer on the court. Biden has said he wants to elect a black woman for the position, which led to speculation about whether Harris could join the SCOTUS. Shockingly, Binder said it could happen.

Currently, the Senate is split 50/50 along party lines. Harris serves as the president of the Senate in her role as vice president, and that means she breaks votes that come to a tie. According to Binder, the Constitution doesn’t really lay out a procedure on what ties the veep can break. That means that she could, theoretically, cast the deciding vote to put herself on the court.

What do you think about the possibility of Harris putting herself on the court?
