(NewsReady.com) – For kids, it’s always going to be traumatic to hear that your parents are getting divorced. How much more so would it be to learn it through something as impersonal as a Zoom call? Incredibly, that’s what it seems actor Kevin Costner has just done.

In 2004, Costner, who became famous in the early 1990s for movies like “Dances With Wolves” and “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” married handbag designer Christine Baumgartner. The couple went on to have three children, now aged 13 to 16, but it seems his career eventually started to cause friction between them. In October 2022, rumors began to circulate that Baumgartner was fed up with him spending so much time away filming the hit TV show “Yellowstone” and was hinting that he had to either choose the show or her. Costner ignored the warning, and the couple started to drift apart. Things came to a head in May, when Baumgartner filed for divorce — while Costner was away filming.
It seems the process isn’t going amicably. Baumgartner is apparently refusing to move out of the couple’s house, despite having signed a prenuptial agreement that says she has to leave the house within 30 days if they separate. Now, she’s also criticizing Costner for telling their children about the divorce in a Zoom call.
According to Baumgartner, she wanted her and Costner to jointly tell their kids about the upcoming divorce — she wrote “It was important for me that we tell the children in person and together” in court documents. However, that’s not what ended up happening. Instead, Costner called them on Zoom from where he was filming and broke the news that way. She said her estranged husband ignored her request and told the children in a call that lasted just ten minutes. It looks like this divorce is shaping up to be a bitter one.
