(NewsReady.com) – Democrats have been calling on cities across the country to defund their police departments. Opponents say it’s a really bad idea because the agencies are already strapped for cash. Budget cuts could have a severe impact on their ability to investigate crimes. What’s happening in Los Angeles is a prime example.
In July, Mayor Eric Garcetti cut the LA Police Department’s (LAPD) budget by $150 million. The reduction has now forced the agency to dissolve its unit that investigated former movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
Los Angeles bowed down to the defund the police movement this summer.
Now the LAPD was forced to cut its sexual assault unit.
The same unit that took down predator Harvey Weinstein.
Thank a Democrat for this.

LAPD Chief Michel Moore said the investigators who worked with the unit will move to other bureaus. There’s now a concern by some advocates that less experienced officers will be investigating complex sexual assaults and victims could suffer.
This is the kind of scenario Republicans warned about.
