(NewsReady.com) – Lori Vallow Daybell is known as the “Doomsday Mom” because of her apocalyptic religious beliefs. In September 2019, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Josh “J.J.” Vallow disappeared. Their families didn’t hear from them for months. In November 2019, their mother traveled to Hawaii with her boyfriend, Chad Daybell, and got married. At the end of the month, J.J.’s grandma reported him missing, telling Idaho police she hadn’t seen him in months.

Law enforcement soon realized they were dealing with something far more sinister than a missing child. In June 2020, authorities found the remains of the children. Now, their mother has received a sentence for killing her children and husband’s late wife.

The Sentence

In May, Vallow was found guilty of murdering her two children and conspiracy to commit Tammy Daybell’s murder. Judge Steven Boyce sentenced her to five life sentences without the possibility of patrol. Three of those life sentences will be served consecutively (one after the other). The judge told her she “chose the most evil and destructive path possible.”

Boyce mentioned she was in Hawaii, joyfully celebrating her new marriage while her children were lying in shallow graves on her new husband’s property in Idaho. Those children had been “burned, mutilated and dismembered, and buried like animals,” the judge said. A month before she married Chad Daybell, Tammy Daybell was found dead in her home.

Doomsday Mom Speaks

Vallow spoke before the judge sentenced her and said she was not guilty of murder. She told the court the victims visited her as spirits and asserted that Jesus understood and knew her.

The convicted murderer claimed that in 2002 when she gave birth to Tylee, she went through a near-death experience that changed her. She claimed she was suddenly able to access the spirit world and heaven. In the years since, she spoke to people who are in heaven, including the kids she murdered. During her trial, her friend Melanie Gibb told the court that she’d heard Vallow say Tylee was a zombie. Later, she also decided her son, J.J., was also a zombie.

Despite their untimely deaths, she claimed they are “very happy and extremely busy.” The judge didn’t buy it.
