(NewsReady.com) – The mayor of Atlanta, Georgia, issued an emotional appeal at a press conference Sunday night, begging the city’s residents to stop shooting each other. Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) made this plea after left-wing protesters shot and killed a child near the Wendy’s restaurant that has become a gathering point for Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists.
BLM has taken over the area around the Wendy’s where the June 12th killing of Rayshard Brooks took place after he stole a Taser from cops and fired it at them. In late June, Fox News interviewed armed protesters who claimed they wouldn’t let police back into the area. Since then, there have been problems with protesters placing illegal barricades in the road.
On Saturday night, a woman was trying to get around the barricades and enter a parking lot when protesters opened fire on her car, fatally injuring her 8-year-old daughter.
"They say Black Lives Matter. You killed your own." Mayor Bottoms, a Democrat, said the city had been negotiating with the protesters but, “At the point that an 8-year-old baby is killed, the discussions have ended.” She says the police will clear the area and restore order.
