Mother Drowns 3 Children and Self After Husband's Suicide

Tragic Aftermath – Multiple Bodies Found

(NewsReady.com) – Grief is a terrible part of life. Sometimes, it’s brought on by the most tragic of circumstances and leaves people reeling in pain. Police suspect that one woman’s grief caused her to do something horrifying.

On July 1, 23-year-old Molly Cheng called the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota and reported her husband, 27-year-old Yee Lee, had shot himself in the head. The new widow told officers that she and her three children would be okay. Later that afternoon, a family member called law enforcement and told them that she was suicidal and might kill her kids.

After Cheng failed to show up for a meeting with an officer, they issued an alert and started tracking her phone. Officers tracked her to Vadnais-Sucker Lake Park, where they found children’s shoes by the shore and her vehicle. People reported that the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said the young mother killed 4-year-old Quadrillion T. Lee and 3-year-old Estella Zoo Siab Lee by drowning and smothering them. They believe she murdered 5-year-old Phoenix Lee by drowning as well before killing herself.

Ramsey County Undersheriff Mike Martin sent his condolences to the friends and family of those who died. He said the sheriff’s department will continue to “investigate the circumstances” surrounding the deaths to “provide clarity and closure to the surviving family members.”
