MTG Being Floated as Trump’s Running Mate

MTG Being Floated as Trump's Running Mate
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene has served in Congress since 2020.
  • The Georgia congresswoman is often shrouded in controversy.
  • Like Trump, Democrats targeted MTG.
  • People are floating the representative as a possible running mate for Trump 2024.

(NewsReady.com) – Former President Donald Trump has unfinished business at the White House. After losing his bid for a second term in 2020, he decided to run for the Oval Office again in 2024. During his first term in office, Mike Pence served as vice president. The former Indiana governor helped secure the Christian vote, as he is known for his devoutness.

This time around, Pence will not be Trump’s running mate. But, the former president has not said who he has in mind. Recent reports indicate a controversial congresswoman is being floated as a possibility.

Trump and Greene 2024?

According to an NBC News exclusive, two sources have said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) hopes to become Trump’s running mate. They told the news organization that they spoke to the congresswoman about the possibility.

Former senior Trump advisor, Steve Bannon, said the congresswoman is not shy about her ambitions. She reportedly “sees herself on the short list for Trump’s VP.” That’s not where her ambitions end, either. Bannon claimed that when MTG, as she is known, “looks in the mirror she sees a potential president smiling back.”

Greene is a firebrand in the GOP, just like Trump. She is a big supporter of the 45th POTUS and made it clear that he also considers her a friend. During the battle over whether Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) should become Speaker of the House in early January, the congresswoman called Trump while on the House floor and passed the phone to a congressman-elect who was voting against McCarthy.

MTG’s Rebranding

When Greene first took office, Democrats in the House stripped her of her committee assignments. She was well-known as an outsider, an agitator, someone who was ready and willing to take on the DC political establishment. After losing her committees, she reportedly started to sidle up to McCarthy and other GOP leaders.

In interviews over the last year, Greene has disavowed her previous support of various conspiracy theories. While the congresswoman has had disagreements with Democrats, The Washington Post claimed she has rebranded herself. That was displayed when she argued with fellow Rep. Lauren Borbert (R-CO) during the McCarthy fight.

Whether Greene would play well on a national stage remains to be seen.
