Law enforcement is warning the public that the killer might strike again.
(NewsReady.com) – Rachel Morin was a 37-year-old mother of five. She liked to work out during her free time. So, that’s what she did on August 5, when she went for a jog at a popular trail in Bel Air, Maryland. When she didn’t come home later, her boyfriend reported her missing. Sadly, her body was discovered the next day.
Police are now searching for a killer, and they have also issued a warning to the public.
The Crime
Morin went jogging just after 6 p.m. on August 5 at the Ma and Pa Trail just outside of her town. The trail is a wooded one that is popular with locals. Around 1 p.m. the next day, a member of the public called 911 to tell them they’d discovered a woman’s body on the side of the trail.
Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler told the public the case had transitioned from a missing person’s case to a homicide investigation. Police said she was brutally murdered while on the trail. She was found naked and beaten, according to reports.
Police Link Cases
Investigators were able to extract DNA from the crime scene. They were able to link Morin’s murder with a violent home invasion that took place in Los Angeles in March. During a press conference, Chief Deputy Col. William Davis said the DNA was run through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) to find a match. It came back as being connected to the assault of a teenage girl.
Davis played a video of a man they believe is the killer. He appears to be Hispanic, is about 5 ft. 9 in. tall, and weighs approximately 160 pounds. The law enforcement official urged the community to remember that the suspected killer isn’t representative of the whole Hispanic community in Harford County. In fact, people in that community are trying to identify the man.
Anyone who can identify this unknown male, or has additional information, is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office at our tip line (410) 836-7788 or via email at [email protected]. pic.twitter.com/U1niUnCmwB

Sheriff Issues Warning
Sheriff Gahler told Fox News that the killer poses a threat across America, not just in his community. He said the man showed an “absolute disregard for the sanctity of human life” and believes it’s possible that he will hurt someone else if he is not captured. He also believes the killer has probably hurt other people in the past, explaining that he doesn’t think the starting point was the crime in California.
