(NewsReady.com) – Recently, the Pentagon warned that the Chinese military is becoming increasingly more powerful. The FBI has called the communist country one of the biggest threats to US national security. Meanwhile, the Heritage Foundation’s 2022 Index of US Military Strength reported the Armed Forces isn’t at peak readiness. Despite all of that, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) thinks the Department of Defense (DOD) needs to focus its attention on going green.
On Tuesday, November 9, Pelosi spoke at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. The Speaker said the US recognizes that its military produces more pollution than 140 other countries combined and is exempt from regulations. She said the Armed Forces use a lot of fuel and thinks if the military begins converting equipment to use alternative fuel, it “would make the biggest difference” in its pollution output.
“That is something [lawmakers] are very focused on,” Pelosi said.

The claim about the military came from a 2019 Brown University Watson Institute of International and Public Affairs study. The military is allegedly the largest institutional producer of greenhouse gases across the globe.
Converting the military equipment the US currently has would cost an obscene amount of money. Those funds would be better spent increasing military readiness to protect the United States and its allies from the Chinese threat.
