(NewsReady.com) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been trying to grab more power in her party since her election in 2018. The former bartender linked up with other radical Leftists to form what’s known as “The Squad” and set out to push longtime Democrats out of office. The lawmakers are often thought of as the “future” of the party, and now AOC is going after Democratic leaders.
On December 16, The Intercept published excerpts of an interview AOC gave to the website’s podcast, “Intercepted.” She slammed her party’s leadership, saying it’s time for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to go. AOC claimed it can’t happen yet because the two leaders concentrated the power of the party at the top instead of teaching other members to lead.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez tells @Intercepted that there are no viable alternatives for House or Senate leadership at the moment because the caucus’s current leaders spent years concentrating power without any “real grooming of a next generation of leadership.” https://t.co/CZu6pjgM4T

The congresswoman wants to get rid of the old guard so the younger members like her and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) can take over. Pelosi and Schumer are too moderate by their standards, and AOC constantly complains that they won’t go far enough to push her quasi-socialist agenda. If she succeeds in pushing the two Dems out, the party would be trading bad lawmakers for worse lawmakers.
