(NewsReady.com) – After weeks of stalling on sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has finally given a concrete deadline. In a recent statement, Pelosi said:
“The American people deserve the truth, and the Constitution demands a trial. The House will now proceed with a vote on transmitting the articles of impeachment and naming impeachment managers on Wednesday, January 15.”
The result of the vote puts Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) in charge of six others to manage the Senate Proceedings.
The rest of the team includes:
- Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY)
- Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA)
- Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)
- Rep. Val Demings (D-FL)
- Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO)
- Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX)
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) believes that Pelosi’s strategy has failed to produce any results and considers it a waste of time. Some Democrats were starting to become resentful of Pelosi’s strategy as well. Other Democrats believe that withholding impeachment articles helped to force conversations centered around having witnesses testify in the Senate or not.
The Senate is expected to accept the articles of impeachment on Thursday, January 16.
