Father Killed His Own Children – Then Police Finally Caught up to Him
(NewsReady.com) – On Monday, June 13, Illinois resident Debbie Karels arrived at the home of her estranged husband, Jason Karels. She was there to pick her three children up from a weekend with their father. What happened next is unimaginable.
Debbie Karels called the police when nobody answered her ex’s door. The police officers entered the home and found the lifeless bodies of the three children in a bedroom. The father of the children allegedly drowned them in the bathtub and left a note for his estranged wife that read, “If I can’t have them neither can you.”

Jason Karels later led police officers on a chase through the Chicago area after trying and failing to kill himself. Eventually, he crashed into a wooded area and allegedly told officers he drowned his children — Bryant, 5, Cassidy, 3, and Gideon, 2 — after their mother dropped them off at his home for visitation.
Prosecutors have charged Jason Karels with three counts of first-degree murder. A judge has now set his bail for $10 million. According to the Chicago Sun Times, he has no history of drug use, mental illness, or criminal history.
