(NewsReady.com) – In May 2019, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued an emergency declaration allowing the transfer of $8.1 billion in arms to Saudi Arabia. Congress was outraged and demanded an investigation into his decision, which lifted holds lawmakers had on the weapons. The State Department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) looked into it and reached a decision this week.
On August 10, the OIG released a report clearing Pompeo of impropriety related to the transfer. The watchdog found the secretary’s order was within his rights under the Arms Export Control Act (AECA). Also, the number of weapons transferred “fell below AECA thresholds that trigger notification to Congress.”

And just like that, another witch hunt by the Democratic Party has been destroyed. Not only did Pompeo not illegally circumvent Congress, lawmakers weren’t even required to know about it. Do you think they’ll apologize to the secretary for the unfounded accusations they lobbed at him? Yeah, likely not.
