Mediterranean Party Tray Recall
The “Mediterranean Inspired Party Tray,” sold by F&S Fresh Foods, is recalled in seven states due to potential salmonella contamination. Consumers are urged to dispose of products and sanitize any surfaces the tray contacted. The issue surfaced after the discovery of contaminated tzatziki sauce included in the tray. This recall is associated with previously recalled cucumbers from Sunfed Produce.
The FDA and CDC are actively investigating this outbreak as part of a broader salmonella contamination issue affecting 68 people in 19 states and resulting in 18 hospitalizations.

Breadth of the Contamination
The contamination traces back to cucumbers grown by Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Sonora, Mexico, imported and distributed between October 12 and November 26. Companies affected by the recall include SunFed Produce, Baloian Farms of Arizona Co., and Russ Davis Wholesale. Recalled products range from vegetable trays to sushi sold across multiple supermarkets, such as Kroger and Walmart, in states like Texas and Colorado.
Consumers are prompted to check their cucumbers for a “SunFed Mexico” sticker or PamPak branded bags, and discard them if necessary, ensuring safety from salmonella symptoms like diarrhea and fever, which may take 6 hours to 6 days to manifest post-infection.

Regulatory and Public Health Responses
The FDA and CDC, alongside state partners, are working tirelessly to assess the outbreak’s scope and determine necessary additional recalls. Consumers are encouraged to stay informed through official FDA communications, including recall information available on the FDA website for three years before archiving.
With nearly continuous reports of product recalls due to similar contamination threats, consumers must remain vigilant. The focus continues to be on ensuring public health safety by addressing each development in this ongoing investigation.
