School Refuses to Accept Donated Money From Melania Trump

(NewsReady.com) – During her time as the first lady, Melania Trump focused on America’s children. Her “Be Best” initiative sought to end bullying in schools across the country. As a private citizen, the former first lady has continued her work for kids, and that’s what made it so disappointing when an Oklahoma school rejected her.

On February 18, the Holberton School in Tulsa revealed it had rejected a donation from Trump. Julien Barbier, the chief executive of Holberton, said the school was approached by the former first lady’s team about making a donation, but they were never able to reach an agreement about the scholarship. She refused to go into it any further.

Melania released a statement about the incident, saying she believed the school’s decision was “politically motivated.” She explained that she has spent the last year dedicated to helping kids around America, and is currently starting a new project that will focus on children in the foster care system. The Fostering the Future, a Be Best Initiative, will provide scholarships to “work to secure educational opportunities” for kids.

The former first lady said she was “disappointed but not surprised” by the school’s decision. She went on to say helping kids shouldn’t be political and everyone should set their differences aside to work together to support America’s children.

Do you agree with the former first lady?
