(NewsReady.com) – Sean “Diddy” Combs is one of the most influential producers and rappers in the hip-hop industry. One of his ex-girlfriends recently accused him of rape and other abuse. He quickly settled the case.
On November 16, Cassandra Ventura, publicly known as “Cassie,” filed a lawsuit against Combs. The R&B artist accused the rap mogul of rape, physical abuse, and sex trafficking her over their nearly decade-long relationship. She claimed that after she met him in 2005, he began abusing her. The singer claimed that he beat her, gave her drugs, and forced her to have sex with male prostitutes while he filmed them. She claimed that after they broke up, he broke into her house and raped her.
The New York Times reported Ben Brafman, Combs’ attorney, issued a statement saying the rapper “vehemently denies [the] offensive and outrageous allegations.” He went on to accuse the singer of demanding $30 million from him, or she would write a damaging book about their relationship. The attorney said Ventura’s demand was “unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail.”
The lawsuit made a year-old interview with rapper Yung Joc go viral. In the interview with VladTV, he talked about a time he was out with Combs, Ventura, and his ex-wife when they saw a woman in a nightclub with half of her head shaved. Combas allegedly told Ventura he wanted her to shave half of her head. Yung Joc said he asked the singer if she wanted to do that, saying she responded, “Well, whatever Sean wants, I’m going to do.” Days later, she debuted her shaved head.
Ventura issued her own statement, saying that she’d spent “years in silence and darkness,” but now she’s “ready to tell [her] story” and to be a voice for herself and “other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”
One day after Ventura filed the lawsuit, the Times reported she announced she resolved the lawsuit with Combs in a way that allowed her to “have some level of control.” She thanked her fans and family for their support. Combs issued a statement, saying the lawsuit was resolved and wishing his ex the best. The details of the settlement are not known.
