Senator Rand Paul's New Bill Will Help Hemp Industry

(NewsReady.com) – Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is a loud opponent of unnecessary government regulations. He truly believes in limited government and tries to pass bills to prevent federal overreach all the time. Most recently, he targeted the regulations on the hemp industry.

On December 15, the senator introduced the “Hemp Economic Mobilization Plan (HEMP) Act of 2020” to address farmers’ concerns about government overreach. According to a press release, the bill will require testing of the actual hemp product instead of the way it’s currently done, which is to test the plant itself. The legislation will also raise the THC limit for hemp to 1% from 0.3%.

Not only will Paul’s bill have an impact on farmers if he gets it through, it could also create jobs, increase retail profits, and keep money flowing through the US economy. That would be especially helpful at a time when the economy is rebounding from the COVID-19 crisis.
