Most recently, a teenager in California was picked up by police. And he didn’t just have plans to carry out a massacre on his own.

Police arrested a 16-year-old for making allegedly trying to recruit other teens to carry out a bombing and mass shooting at Berkeley High School. Officers say he posted online about his plot in mid-May. After receiving a tip, police obtained a search warrant for his home. Authorities found several knives, assault rifles, parts to make bombs, and other items that the teen could have used in an attack. The teen turned himself over to the police for threatening to commit a crime that would result in death or great bodily harm and possessing destructive device materials.

Berkeley Unified School District Superintendent Brent Stephens told NBC Bay Area that although the situation was scary, he thinks it’s positive that an individual in the community reported the teen early on. Police then took action right away.
