President Trump announced he’s taking hydroxychloroquine.
Studies of the drug are mixed, according to White House physician.
COVID-19 has killed more than 332,000 people worldwide as of May 21.
Multiple White House staffers have tested positive for the virus.
(NewsReady.com) – For the last couple of months, President Donald Trump has discussed the positive results of small studies about the effectiveness of an anti-malarial drug in treating COVID-19. From the moment he first mentioned the medication, the Left has been against it. They seem to believe the leader of the free world, who’s surrounded by the best medical minds in the country, doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
On May 18, all of the drama came to a head when the president announced he’s taking hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). People like Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) slammed him for his decision. But, they never thought about why the commander-in-chief might do such a thing.
The Decision to Take The Medication
After the president announced he was taking the controversial drug, his White House physician, Sean Conley, explained why he approved of the decision.
In a statement to Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, Conley said he thought President Trump should take the drug after a member of his personal staff tested positive for COVID-19. Both the White House physician and commander-in-chief went over all of the evidence, negative and positive, before they decided the benefits outweighed the risk.
In other words, the president isn’t pushing anyone to take the drug, he was just letting people know that he and his physician decided it’s a good idea for him.
Why Would He Do That?
The president of the United States is tasked with keeping the country running well while also keeping everyone safe. How would he do that if he were sick?
Multiple members of the White House staff have contracted COVID-19. That’s no surprise considering how contagious the virus is. When that happened, the president took notice, his physician said so. That’s when a decision had to be made: do nothing and fall ill or try everything to protect himself from the deadly virus.
President Trump decided to protect himself.
In the nearly 3.5 years since he has taken office, the country has made great strides toward the goal of greatness. Sure, the pandemic caused an economic hiccup, but that can be overcome. Donald Trump knows he’s the guy to do it and it’s clear he is doing everything he can to make sure he’s the one who Makes America Great Again.
It’s not surprising he took the medication — of course he did. He’s never let fear get in his way and his recent decision is just one more example.
