Tulsi Gabbard Is Leaving the Democratic Party

(NewsReady.com) – Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard served Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district from 2013 until 2021 as a Democrat. Although she was never afraid to stand up to her party, she dropped out of the primary race for the 2020 Democratic nominee and threw her weight behind then-candidate Joe Biden. Recently, she left the party she served under for so long.

On October 11, the Army veteran announced she was no longer a Democrat. In a video on Twitter, she explained she couldn’t support the party platform anymore. Gabbard told her supporters she believes the Left radicalizes “every issue” and “stokes anti-white racism.” At the end of her video, she urged other Democrats to join her in leaving the party.

Gabbard appeared on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson’s show later that evening. The host was amused by her announcement, telling her it was “quite a statement.” The former Democrat reposted a clip of the interview on Twitter and accused the Left of only supporting powerful elites.

For many, Gabbard’s departure was no surprise. She’d butted heads with the Democratic establishment for years and even sued former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. While her lawsuit was later dropped, it proved she wasn’t just going to toe the line.
