(NewsReady.com) – After the director of national intelligence (DNI) seat was vacated, America’s German Ambassador Richard Grenell, took over as acting chief in February. He held the position while the Senate was working to confirm someone else as the official intelligence chief. Now, a more permanent solution has been found.
Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) has now been nominated to become the new chief of US intelligence.
I am pleased to announce the nomination of @RepRatcliffe (Congressman John Ratcliffe) to be Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Would have completed process earlier, but John wanted to wait until after IG Report was finished. John is an outstanding man of great talent!

Initially, Trump was considering a few candidates to be the next DNI. Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) was one, but he’s currently running for a Senate seat. Grenell was another, though Trump never intended to have him permanently fill the position. Ratcliffe had applied for the job last year before withdrawing when some aspects of his resume were questioned.
