Ukraine Conflict Is “Holy War” Says Russian TV Presenter

Ukraine Conflict Is

(NewsReady.com) – The Russian war on Ukraine is approaching the one-year mark. Tens of thousands of troops on both sides of the conflict have died. Countless civilians have also lost their life in the seemingly unprovoked battle. A Russian state television star is now claiming it’s a holy war that will continue to rage.

A video was posted on Twitter on January 22, showing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ally Vladimir Solovyov speaking about the conflict on Rossiya-1. He claimed the military has moved on from a special operation to “holy war mode.” He went on to say Russia is fighting “50 countries that are united by Satanism.” Further, he believes the conflict is one that they “have to win.”

In a chilling statement Solovyov said that if his country doesn’t win the war, then “the whole world will disappear.” The Putin ally isn’t a stranger to controversy. He has made a number of outrageous remarks since the Russian president authorized the invasion and full-scale military operation in the neighboring country.

The television star spoke about the alleged holy war in December, as well. According to Newsweek, at the end of 2022, Solovyov made the same remarks about the battle in Ukraine.

US lawmakers recently traveled to Ukraine to see the war up close. A group of bipartisan senators, including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), were in Kyiv. They spoke to the press while they were there, and the South Carolina Republican was furious about military equipment delays.

Putin has expressed a desire to begin negotiations to end the war, but has not yet done that. He continues to send his troops into Ukraine to die and has reportedly lost more than 100,000 of them over the last 11 months. It’s unclear what, if anything, he could even offer Ukraine to get the nation to agree to come to the table.
