(NewsReady.com) – A US military plane has crashed in Afghanistan near territory controlled by the Taliban. It’s unclear whether it was an accident or the plane was shot down. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for this attack and reports that other planes have crashed near its territory, but these claims have yet to be substantiated.
According to initial reports, there was less than five crew onboard.
After numerous tweets and videos of the wreckage circulated social media, the aircraft’s identity was determined.

The USAF E-11A BACN (Battlefield Airborne Communications Node) is a modified Bombardier Global 6000 business jet that provided real-time information of the surveyed landscape directly to military commanders and troops.
US Army Colonel Sonny Leggett commented on the plane crash saying:
“The crash is under investigation, there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy fire. We will provide additional information as it becomes available. Taliban claims that additional aircraft have crashed are false.”
