US Turns to 2A as Fears Rise
  • Coronavirus is rapidly spreading across the world.
  • FBI background checks for guns jumped 36% from 2019.
  • An Arizona gun shop owner says sales increased 50% to 100% since the outbreak began.
  • Survival gear is flying off the shelves too.

(NewsReady.com) – Across the country, families are stocking up on food, cleaning supplies and toilet paper as they prepare to hunker down. COVID-19 is spreading fast and the president wants Americans to limit their activities. As citizens prepare for long stretches at home, they’re also worried about protecting themselves.

Guns and Ammo Are Essential

Groceries aren’t the only thing Americans are buying. Forbes reports gun shops across the country are seeing an increase in sales. On March 16, while the Stock Market tanked, gun sellers saw jumps in their stocks. Vista Outdoor rose by 7.86%, American Outdoor Brands has a 5.46% increase and Sturm, Ruger & Co. jumped by 3.6%.

Ron Sega, owner of Guns Etc. in Mesa, Arizona, said he hasn’t seen gun sales like this since former President Barack Obama was in office.

What’s Driving Sales?

Fear.

The coronavirus pandemic is bad. The president, who’s usually very animated, is standing in front of a podium every day and asking everyone to stay home.

Ralph Charette, a 71-year-old military veteran, is one of the people who bought a weapon recently. He told reporters he decided to buy a rifle and ammo after running into empty shelves at grocery stores and hostile shoppers.

“There’s so much uncertainty and paranoia but you’ve got to protect your own,” the veteran explained.

People across the country agree with Mr. Charette. Even in California, a state with strict gun laws, residents are buying weapons, ammunition and survival gear to protect themselves.

Our Forefathers Prepared For This

When Americans are scared, they want to protect their families. It’s natural that they’d look to the Constitution for the best way to do that. The Second Amendment was written for times like these.

Our Founding Fathers knew a time would come when we’d have to protect our families. A global pandemic is a pretty scary event — who knows how nuts people will get. We all hope it will never get that bad, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Aside from the obvious safety concerns, citizens may decide to do some hunting while they’re social distancing. It’s a relaxing hobby they can do alone and provide their own meal at the same time. A win-win!

At the end of the day, making sure that your family is protected isn’t a bad idea. A well-rounded survival plan is something that everyone should have.

  1. Yes, we are all in this TOGETHER! That is until the going gets tough – then the GOP TRUMPist will shoot you!! Try staying home and not overwhelming our delivery system by hoarding groceries and vital supplies, and we can all get through this TOGETHER!!! Then you’ll have to come up with some other excuse to murder those people with idealogical differences . . .
