(NewsReady.com) – Virginia Democrats have been pushing hard to pass red flag laws in their attempt to curtail gun violence. Many people have questioned whether these types of laws are constitutional. Just this past week, five out of eight gun control measures passed both General Assembly houses and are on the verge of becoming law.
Five of eight gun control bills endorsed by Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam have been approved in both houses of the General Assembly and will head to Northam for signature. https://t.co/bMxSfqnYDB

The measures currently approved will enable local entities to ban some firearms from a few types of public places. They also provide more strict regulations around the process of reporting lost or stolen firearms, recklessly leaving loaded, unsecured firearms around children under 14, as well as the possession and transfer of guns for individuals under protective orders.
Two of the other measures not yet approved would implement universal background checks for gun sales and limit the purchase of handguns to once per month.
