Vladimir Putin Sends Brutal Message to America

(NewsReady.com) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly lashed out at America in recent years, but especially since he started an unprovoked war with his neighbors. The leader is furious at the US for sending aid to Ukraine to help them fight to keep his country from stealing their land. The authoritarian leader recently carried out a missile launch that was supposed to send a message to America.

On Wednesday, January 25, CNBC reported the Russian Defense Ministry said the frigate Admiral Gorshkov conducted “hypersonic missile exercises” in the Atlantic Ocean. The test was specifically to test the performance of the country’s Zircon (or Tsirkon) hypersonic missile. The Russian president has previously bragged that his missiles have a speed nine times faster than the speed of sound (about two miles per second) and can hit targets of up to 620 miles. To put that into perspective, that’s about the distance from Washington, DC to Atlanta, Georgia.

According to a CNBC report from 2019, Putin said the missile could “hit navy or land targets.” It can also be launched from a submarine or ship.

CNBC reported the Russian defense ministry said the test of the missile was to strike a target over 559 miles away in the Atlantic Ocean.

The tension between the US and Russia has reached a new high in recent days. That’s due, in part, to President Joe Biden’s decision to allow the Pentagon to send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Putin’s administration has repeatedly accused the US of using Ukraine to fight a proxy war against it.

When news broke about the tanks, Russian officials lashed out against America, saying the decision was an escalation of the war. They promised to find the tanks and render them useless. As for the missile launch, reports indicate it will likely be considered a show of strength against the US.
