Kennedy Family Chooses Biden Over RFK Jr. for Endorsement

(NewsReady.com) – The Kennedy family is a Democratic dynasty. There have been presidents, ambassadors, an attorney general, multiple members of state and US Congress, and the list goes on. This year, one of them is even running for president. However, the political powerhouse family is not standing behind him.

On April 18, over a dozen Kennedy family members endorsed President Joe Biden at a campaign event in Philadelphia. The family shunned Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the son of Robert F. Kennedy (RFK), who is running for president as an independent candidate.

The family members who endorsed Biden included RFK Jr.’s siblings. The campaign event allowed the president to use the Kennedy name to try to build support in the suburbs. It also seemed to imply that Biden was the person who was carrying forward the legacy of President John F. Kennedy and RFK.

That was evident when Kerry Kennedy, RFK Jr.’s sister, stood next to five of her siblings and said the family believed the “best way forward for America is to reelect” the president. She said Biden is “a champion for all the rights and freedoms that [her] father and uncle stood for.”

Kennedy said voting for the president “is a vote to save [American] democracy and [its] decency.” She invoked her father’s memory again, telling the crowd that’s exactly what he called for in 1968 when he ran for president.

In addition to the announcement in Philadelphia, former Rep. Joseph Kennedy III sat down for an interview with NBC News and issued a sharp rebuke to his uncle. He said RFK Jr.’s campaign “poses a threat to the country” and values that he holds close. He explained that he believes his uncle is going to take votes from Biden and help former President Donald Trump win.

RFK Jr. responded to an endorsement on X, formerly Twitter, saying that he’s happy his family is staying politically active and that although their opinions are divided, they still love one another.
