Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims That Democrats Want to Sentence Trump to Death

( – Former President Donald Trump is facing more than 90 felony counts. Officials have charged him in Georgia and two federal courts for alleged crimes related to the 2020 election and his handling of classified material. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a staunch advocate for the ex-president, thinks Democrats want him to die, like the Russian opposition leader.

On February 16, Alexei Navalny died in an Arctic prison. After unsuccessfully trying to oust Russian President Vladimir Putin for years, Navalny was poisoned and nearly died in 2020. He recovered from the poisoning in Germany and decided to go back to Russia. When he did, authorities arrested him and threw him in prison. He was serving decades in a penal colony when he suddenly died. His family has accused Putin’s government of murdering him.

After Navalny’s death, Republicans in the US began comparing the cases against Trump to what happened to Navalny. Greene was one of the leaders who made the comparisons.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the congresswoman said, “While Democrats suddenly care about [Navalny] dying in jail,” they want Trump to spend the rest of his life in prison, basically giving him “a death sentence.”

Greene is correct. If the president were to be convicted of the 90-plus charges against him and sentenced to the minimum sentence for each charge, he could spend the rest of his life in prison. In fact, he could be sentenced to more than 700 years.

The congresswoman also said the Democratic Party let millions of “illegals into our country and is destroying the value of our dollar” so they can “blame Trump and scream Russia.”

Trump also compared himself to Navalny in a rant on his social media platform, TRUTH Social. He said the opposition leader’s death made him “more and more aware of what is happening” in the US. He claimed it’s a “slow slow, steady progression, with CROOKED” officials in the justice system “ leading [America] down a path to destruction.”
